Transport to the Centre - Bus Visit Process:
Lotus Glen Correctional Centre is located 25km south of Mareeba. Visitor Transport Services provides bus transport services to support family and friends in maintaining in-person contact with people in Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. The bus service is funded by Queensland Government and delivered by Down Under Tours. It is free of charge for visitors wishing to utilise the bus service.
► The bus service is provided 2 days per week, every Saturday and Sunday, servicing the afternoon 12:30pm and 1:00pm correctional centre visit sessions only.
Bus Bookings:
Bookings are essential for the bus service.
Bookings can be made on a Monday morning from 10:30am for the upcoming weekend visits. Please phone 4047 9080 to make a bus booking to visit Lotus Glen.
At the time of booking, we will ask you for the following information:
► Your name
► Mobile number (to send an SMS reminder, and updates about the date you are travelling on the bus)
► How many people are travelling on the bus
► Your pick up location/bus stop (see options below); and
► If you are visiting the Main Centre or the Farm
Your booking information is provided to the Lotus Glen Visits team for the purpose of supplying a visitor manifest to the centre.

Please note, currently Lotus Glen Correctional Centre requires visitors to arrive 1 hour prior to the start of the visit time (Main Centre) and 15 minutes prior to the start of the farm visit time.
Special Visits:
In addition to the weekly scheduled visits, Lotus Glen may choose to offer ‘special visits’ to the correctional centre. Special visits are determined by Lotus Glen and can be for the purposes such as Family days, Christmas celebrations, NAIDOC or other culturally specific celebrations. Lotus Glen will advise of any upcoming special visits.

► How much does the bus cost?
There is no charge for visitors to use the bus transfer service to Lotus Glen
► How do I make a booking?
You can call our local office to make a booking on 4047 9080. We will ask you:
Your name, mobile number (to send reminder text message or to update you about the service), how many people are travelling on the bus, which bus stop you would like to be picked up from & if you are visiting the Main Centre or the Farm

► Can I take children with me?
Yes, children can travel on the bus if they are accompanied by an adult. At the time of booking, you will be asked how old the children are, so we can assist you with baby/child seats if applicable.
► Can I take a baby on the bus?
Yes, you do have to make a booking for every person travelling with you, including babies and children. Babies and children must be in a baby seat or booster seat. These are provided by the bus service and are allocated at the time of booking – limited seats available.
► Can I travel in a wheelchair on the bus?
Yes, please advise at the time of booking that you have a wheelchair.
► Does the bus booking also approve the visit to Lotus?
No. The bus is separate to your visit. You must seek approval from Lotus to visit the correctional centre. After this, you can make a booking for the bus service.
► Can I turn up to the bus stop without a booking?
No, advance bookings for the bus need to be made. If you have a last-minute request to visit Lotus Glen, please contact the visits team for approval & they will book you on the bus if available.
► How do I cancel the bus booking?
Please call the bus bookings number on 4047 9080 to cancel your bus booking.
