3 Day Cape Tribulation & Cooktown Wanderer
Begin the day with a pickup from your hotel and journey north along the scenic Great Barrier Reef Drive to Mossman Gorge. Enjoy morning tea at Mossman Gorge Centre before a driver-guided walk in the rainforest of the Gorge. Next is a 1 hour Daintree River Cruise; this unique environment is abundant with wildlife including Saltwater Crocodiles. A tropical BBQ lunch is included at a private rainforest location before visiting the renowned Cape Tribulation Beach, named by Captain Cook. Our driver will drop you at your overnight accommodation in the Daintree Rainforest.
Be collected by your Cooktown guide to make our way further north along the 4WD only Bloomfield Track through the rainforest. Our driver will share the fascinating history of the World Heritage Rainforest and areas you will travel through before arriving at the iconic Lion’s Den Hotel for lunch. This iconic pub is one of Queensland’s oldest, having been established in 1878. Once arrived in Cooktown, first stop is Grassy Hill Lookout which boasts 360 degree views from where James Cook surveyed his route in 1770. Learn more of Cooktown’s history on a guided walk along the foreshore and it’s monuments. Arrive at your Cooktown accommodation for the night and enjoy free time for yourself.
Visit iconic locations in Cooktown today with your experienced guide, including the heritage listed Cooktown cemetery, the James Cook Museum and the Cooktown Botanic Gardens and Art Gallery. Discover more about this history of this frontier town as you visit each location. Begin the journey home via the Outback and experience the contrasting difference between the rainforest you experienced on previous days. Stop at Black Mountain, Byerstown Lookout and the Palmer River Roadhouse before returning to your Cairns or Port Douglas accommodation.
