What’s on in Cairns: February 2019

As part of the Summer ‘wet/green season’ in Cairns, February weather is very similar to January so expect some of the warmest temperatures (average high 31 degrees Celsius) and some rain to bring to rainforest to life. The rain tends to come through in the evening and overnight, but if it’s on day you’re heading out, don’t let the rain get you down! Rain brings out the best of the Cairns environment, with beautiful green rainforest and wildlife emerging; the many waterfalls around Cairns are certainly sights to see.
Take a day trip to Kuranda to discover the ancient World-Heritage listed rainforest, and admire the awesome views of Barron Falls at its best time of the year. Just make sure to take an umbrella or raincoat if you are worried about rain.
If you’re looking to cool off with a swim, it will be the perfect temperature. Be careful at the beaches as it is the middle of stinger season, and make sure to use a stinger suit if you’re heading to the Great Barrier Reef (many reef trip operator’s can provide these so check who you book with for more information).
