Aboriginal and Rainforest Heritage
The Daintree and Cape Tribulation region presents an array of unsurpassable ecological and Aboriginal cultural experiences for the discerning traveller.
In well appointed luxury 4WD, our intimate party ventures north from Cairns to traverse the breathtaking Coral Sea coastline en route to majestic Cooya Beach. We join Yaba Yabaju of the Kuku Yalanji people, the traditional owners of the land, for an exclusive and interactive cultural experience. Meander through these primordial habitats with your private indigenous guide as you are initiated into the ancient stories and history of the area. Gather food; throw spears and experience traditional hunting in the mudflats, mangroves and beach habitats.
Continuing north, we cross the Daintree River on authentic ferry to arrive at Cape Tribulation beach, a global marvel where two World Heritage Listed regions, the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest converge. Situated on a private stretch of pristine beach embraced by dense green rainforest, the Coconut Beach Resort provides a unique gourmet dining experience. Following lunch, take a stroll along this private beach.
We carry on to Cooper Creek Wilderness, hidden right in the sacred heart of the 135 million year old Daintree Rainforest. Home to an abundance of species persevering in isolation, the Daintree constitutes the centrepiece of the World's closest living counterpart to the prehistoric forests of Gondwanaland. Untouched by mankind, Cooper Creek Wilderness preserves its reputation as the most diverse and ancient fragment of the Daintree.
Enjoy expert interpretation as we amble along natural trails and through magnificent fan palm dominated forests beside the spectacular blue waters of Cooper Creek.
On our journey back to your accommodation, it's time to sit back and reflect on an exclusive day imbued with all the legend, mystery and beauty of the Cape Tribulation and Daintree rainforest.
